“Of course he’s real !!!”

And so we’ve arrived at Christmas once again and our penultimate show of the year. Just one more film and we’ll be switching off the projector, rolling up the screen and putting our feet up for a while! Needless to say the sprouts are already on.

“Just the film to get us in the mood for Christmas. So lovely to have some live music and to be surrounded by Santa’s little helpers! Table decor was beautiful too. “

“Such amazing table decorations! How talented you are. “

As guests arrived we kicked it off in style with 30 minutes of festive songs from Lorraine Cater to get everyone in the mood.

“Excellent cocktail. Will be making that at Christmas!”

A hat tip to Martin who came up with what could have been a potentially “Marmite” cocktail (espresso shot, Kalhua, Bailey’s Irish Cream and Vodka). But lo ! A bright star shone and it received a very favourable response (“Oooh, it’s very more-ish”)….. so much so that we even had one of our regulars asking for the secret recipe!

“Well organised, lovely evening, friendly and efficient organisers. Drinks were great, film fantastic. Enjoyed every moment !”

Pete was our Master of Ceremonies for the evening, ably supported by 17 other fabulous Volunteers: first time Volunteer Wendy (Welcome !!!), Steve, John, Paula W, Mark W, Jenny, Sarah, Ken, Jackie, David, Chris, Paul, Paula H, Martin, Mark V, Jo and Adam. Thank you one and all.

“Excellent film. We did enjoy it. “

“Enchanting film. Puts you in the Christmas mood. Great. “

Miracle on 34th Street” was our chosen film. 6 years ago we screened the 1947 version and it was time for Dickie Attenborough’s 1994 remake to make an appearance.

It proved a popular film with an average audience score of 9.7 – although one guest did prefer the original version.

As they left the audience cast their votes as to how we should split any profits amongst our 3 chosen community groups and charities. On this occasion they opted for 60% to HumanKind, 18% to the Friends of Billericay School and 22% to Baby Basics. With one more film to go in this half year we’ll reveal the amounts raised for each group next week.

…. And one more thing (to borrow a phrase from Steve Jobs!).

It’s a tradition at our Christmas shows that our guests receive a little gift as they leave. Here are Volunteers Sarah and Jo
A huge thanks to Jo who not only put together (and filled) our gifts but also hand painted all the glass lights!

Finally, all of the other feedback comments – thank you all, they are very much appreciated.
