The Man Who Knew Too Much
“The Man Who Knew Too Much” is Hitchcock at his suspenseful best. There’s mystery, intrigue – and of course both James Stewart and Doris Day.
We ended up with a lower than average 44 bookings, along with 15 fabulous Volunteeers. Two years ago in July “Chariots of Fire” had 37, last year “The Outfit” was sold out with 67.
Overall a well received film. One person didn’t like it (score of 3), but all the rest were 8s, 9s and 10s giving an average score for the film of 9.4 – and an average for the evening overall of 9.8.
The comments were interesting – quite a few opposing views. A first time couple really enjoyed themselves and one person said that this was the first time they’d ever scored a film a 10 !
With the start of the second half of the year we have two new community groups that we’ll be supporting – the Norsey Woods Society and the Mill Meadows Society, Volunteers from whom help to maintain two of the most beautiful open spaces in Billericay.
The audience voting for the profit share gave the Norsey Woods Society an early lead with 56% of the audience votes; the Mill Meadows Society 44%.
Early returns suggest a profit of around £120 which means £60 shared between the Norsey Woods Society (£33.60) and Mill Meadows (£26.40) – and the remainder helping to support our long term partnership with the Billericay Good Companions Club.
We’ve been given space for an article in the next edition of Billericay Town Council’s newsletter, The Town Crier – and wanted a photo that stood out. The instruction to everyone was to look happy and to wave. They all understood the assignment !
