A wonderful start to our Dementia Friendly screenings

At the end of February we held the first film in our new Dementia Friendly season – Singin’ in the Rain.

It was an encouraging start with 28 guests attending, higher than we expected for our first screening. Feedback was very positive, and there were some lovely moments during the film – a few guests happily beating time to the music, someone humming along, and some wonderful beaming smiles as people left. It really made our day.

We’ve a couple of small tweaks to make to the lighting levels, but overall it was a fantastic start to the season.

Huge thanks to Jeremy Tyler of Tyler Estates for sponsoring Carers Go Free, to Gateway 97.8 for the free tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and to Billericay Town Council for providing the hall through their Community Event Grant.

Our next Dementia Friendly screening is the musical comedy “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” on Sunday 26th April. Starring Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell, tickets can be purchased online or from Human Kind Cafe or the Chantry Centre – and remember Carers Go Free!
