Adam headed over to Basildon on Friday 27th June for the monthly “Film Friday” segment on Danny Lawrence’s Drivetime show.
As always we had a lovely, relaxed chat broadly following our familiar format. First up it was a quick review of how the previous Thursday and Sunday Matinee films went (“The Critic” and “The Odd Couple”, followed by a discussion of our next two: Angelina Jolie in 2024’s biographical drama of the final week in the life of opera singer Maria Callas before heading back to 1956 and the wonderful pairing of James Stewart and Doris Day in the Hitchcock suspense/thriller “The Man Who Knew Too Much”.
We always talk about other things that are happening with the cinema – and as we’ve come to the end of our first half we could proudly reveal our donations to our community groups – £480 supporting the work of the Billericay Good Companions, and then (decided by audience vote) £334 to Gone Too Soon, £238 to the Billericay Men’s Group and £223 to
Oh, and we might have mentioned that Pete had joined the mighty 100 Club having now volunteered at 100 films.
